Friends of Democracy or is it friends of Thabo Mbeki see for your self, visit http://www.friendsofdemocracy.co.za/. What ever way one views this site it is clear that Thabo Mbeki is not dead. The divisions in the ANC are there and are not going to go away. The rumblings about a break away party are there and it may or not materalise only time will tell?
There are rumors that Mbeki and his foundation are soon going to set up offices at UNISA and one hope that the loonies in SASCO will leave him alone to have tea with his old pal Aristed and co at that argust institution.
While he sits up on the hill contemplating the completion of his pet project “Freedom Park” he should answer why he did not appoint a commission of inquiry into the arms deal. If we are to believe the M&G this week, it seems that he did every thing in his power to subvert the constitution by blocking parliaments oversight committee from initiating a independent commission.
So while we agree that democracy requires vigilance and “friends” this country does need an independent inquiry into the arms deal.
lets see who calls for one, the Friends of Democracy or Jacob Zuma’s friends in the new NEC. Our Friends of Democracy will have no credibility unless they lend their voice to the call for a independent commission on the arms deal. unless the matter of the arms deal is cleared up, we should not allow Mbeki to act as our “trouble shooter” in Africa. No matter how brilliant his pen, we need to know if he trampled on our constitution and subverted our developmental goals.
President Jacob Zuma what about lending your voice to the call for a commission of Inquiry into the arms deal. We wait to see who will blink first.

as far as arms deal enquiry is concerned Zuma will march along the same lines as the former president. why would he provide proof that would send him along with most of the anc to brass to jail.
