This Week in History

7 September 1992- Soldiers Fire On Demonstrators on the border of Ciskei, South Africa, killing 28 and wounding 200.

8 September 1966 - The fist episode of Star Trek is aired on NBC.

9 September 1985 - American President Ronald Reagan reverses his earlier stance on South Africa and agrees to limited sanctions.

10 September 1942 – Britain invades the island of Madagascar, attempting to stop Vichy aid to the Axis Powers in the Indian Ocean

11 September 2001 – Thousands are killed after terrorists crashed hijacked airliners into the World Trade Centre in New York and the Pentagon in Washington.

12 September 1989 – Advocate Anton Lubowski (37), secretary-general of the SWAPO, is shot dead.

13 September 1997 - Mother Teresa is buried.
